Whitfield's screen debut came in Doctor Detroit followed by roles in SILVERADO, THE SLUGGER'S WIFE, JAWS: THE REVENGE, A THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE, GONE FISHIN', and the critically acclaimed EVE'S BAYOU. Her portrayal of the legendary Josephine Baker garnered the actress an Emmy Award and Cable Ace Award for Best Actress. She won an NAACP Image Award for STOMPIN' AT THE SAVOY, and was also seen in THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE and ZORA IS MY NAME.
