| from Kellie Williams.com As a child actor, Kellie Shanygne Williams had that rare combination of charm and talent that made her an immediate favorite of TV fans all over America. For nearly a decade, viewers watched Kellie grow up each week as the sensible, smart and sassy Laura Winslow on the highly successful ABC-TV network series “Family Matters.” Along with a younger brother and sister (Donte and Marti), Kellie (born March 22, 1976) is a native of Forestville, MD. At the tender age of 12, Kellie quickly proved that she was the perfect choice for the role of Laura Winslow on “Family Matters.” As the object of the affections of Steve Urkel, played by series co-star Jaleel White, Kellie was able to showcase her infectious brand of humor, wit, and comedic timing. Recently she returned to prime time television in her first co-starring role as an adult on the Columbia Tri-Star Television series, “What About Joan” airing on ABC-TV. The short-lived “What About Joan” starred two-time Academy Award nominee Joan Cusack. The half-hour comedy centered around the life of a single high school teacher (Cusack) in Chicago, her girlfriends, and their unique perspectives on life and relationships. Kellie co-starred as Alice, a spirited young student teacher who is newly arrived at the school. While “What About Joan” was Kellie’s first co-starring sitcom since “Family Matters,” this young talented actress has also been busy playing parts on both the big and small screens. Kellie had a recurring role on the UPN Network television comedy series “Moesha.” In addition, she had a starring role in the feature file “Ride,” the hilarious comedy from the producers of “House Party.” Living a fit and a healthy lifestyle and taking control of her career are key elements to Kellie’s success. She maintains a very busy schedule that includes managing a band (Amari), creating various film and television projects through her production company, Kellie Williams Productions, and a charity network, in addition to her acting responsibilities and finding time for family and friends. It’s no wonder that Steve Urkel fell in love with her.
